We believe that there is a strong need for diverse civil society that will contribute to moral, democratic, financial, and psychological welfare of the whole society. Volunteer initiative is a basic component of the active civil society. Therefore, we founded the Volunteer centre Osijek (VCO) on December 5
2005 – on the International Volunteer Day (IVD).
Volunteer centre Osijek is an organization dedicated to the development of civil society and volunteerism, as well as to structure and continuous support for volunteers and organizations in need. The Center was established as a result of joint activity of the Advisory Board for the Volunteerism Development. The Board consists of representatives from institutions and organizations highly motivated to establish sustainable structure of volunteerism development in the area of Slavonia and Baranja .
The Centre is placed in a challenging social environment – in a region that was affected by war in the early 90s of the 20th century and is now facing the post-conflict and multi-ethnic challenges as well as challenges of underdeveloped economy.
